It is a pleasure to announce that Amanda Cassell has been named the January Elks Student of the Month for Bellows Falls Union High School. Amanda, a senior, is the daughter of Charles Cassell and Tammy Sears both of Bellows Falls.
A conscientious student, Amanda works hard on her academics every day. She is dedicated to doing well and puts in the time needed to strengthen her skills. Amanda is polite, caring, kind, and generous and often puts the needs of others before her own. She is helpful with her peers, and is always willing to help classmates who are struggling academically or emotionally. She is readily available to help anyone who should need her, and is often the first to volunteer to go get something or help out if someone needs a helping hand. Amanda is a courteous person who will hold the door for a line of teachers and students as they enter the building, and offer a bright smile and enthusiastic “hello.”
Not only does Amanda work hard in school, but she works hard to give back to her community, as well. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Our Place in Bellows Falls and has worked hard in that position. She has even recruited friends to join her in supporting Our Place to help at events and with volunteering time. Amanda was incredibly helpful showing items at the “Empty Bowl” fundraiser for Our Place which helped to raise money for the community. Amanda also helped with set up and take down of that event as well. In addition to attending her monthly board meetings for Our Place, she delivers bags of groceries to home-bound residents in local homes one day a month. Amanda enjoys this job and the joy it brings to the residents.
Clearly deserving of this award, BFUHS is proud to have Amanda represent us this month.
