Lia Clark named November Elks Student of the Month

It is a pleasure to announce that Lia Clark has been named the November Elks Student of the Month for Bellows Falls Union High School.  Lia, a junior, is the daughter of Tim Clark and  Kristen Swartwout of Saxtons River.

Lia is incredibly friendly and outgoing.  She goes out of her way to greet people and ask how they are doing.  Always willing to help, she will drop whatever she is doing to offer assistance where she sees a need.  She has a genuine kindness towards others, and works hard to get people to join in activities.

Not only devoted to learning, Lia is active in various aspects of the BFUHS community and serves as a good role model to all.  As a student athlete, and Cross Country team captain she demonstrates a competitive nature in a positive way, as she encourages her teammates and competitors to do better.  Lia is involved in many extracurricular activities including the Environthon, Drama Club, Math Team, Student Council and Brain Bee, and  she commits fully to them all.  Lia is also the co-founder and editor of  The Howler Student Newspaper.   She has shown that she is someone people can count on to carry out a task, and she often goes above and beyond the expectations of others.  Lia is currently the President of the BFUHS Class of 2019 and the “Voice of the Terriers” as she does the morning announcements.

Lia comes to school every day with an open mind and a desire to learn.  She is an active participant in class discussions and activities, and is willing to put in the time needed to improve her skills.  She is a dedicated student who combines natural ability, fantastic time management and an internal drive to succeed.

Lia is a perfect candidate for this award and BFUHS and the Elks are honored to have her represent us this month with this award.
