It is a pleasure to announce that Ian Wallace has been named the September Elks Student of the Month for Bellows Falls Union High School. Ian, a senior, is the son of Ben and Karen Wallace of Saxtons River, Vermont.
A dedicated student, Ian works hard in his classes. Not only is he a member of the Marilee Huntoon Chapter of the Jesse A. Judd National Honor Society at BFUHS, he is also one of the top students in his senior class. Many of his teachers consider him to be an excellent contributor in their classrooms.
Ian is a skilled musician and has earned top honors in the district band for the last two years. Additionally, Ian was accepted into 2018 the Vermont All State Band. He has been a valued member in the BFUHS band as well as the Pit Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble.
As a valued member of the BFUHS cross country and track teams, Ian has consistently been a top performer in the state division meet. He serves as a good role model, as he goes above and beyond in his training. He leads the boy’s cross country team this year as its captain.
Ian is a member of The Howler student news site and has published many articles on a variety of topics in his Global Review column. His writing efforts earned him ‘Writer of the Year’ status in his junior year and promotion to co-editor status.
Wanting to give to the community, Ian volunteers as an income tax advisor with SEVCA every year and has advanced to training other volunteer advisors due to his experience and knowledge.
Ian is appreciated by many in the BFUHS community for striving over the years to become such a thoughtful and considerate young man, and the Elks and BFUHS are proud to have him represent us this month with this award.
