It is a pleasure to announce that Megan Banik has been named the February Elks Student of the Month for Bellows Falls Union High School. Megan, a senior, is the daughter of Molly and Paul Banik of Westminster.
Megan is a dedicated student who works extremely hard in her classes. She does not just work hard for good grades; she works hard for the sake of learning and improving herself. She excels in the classroom, completes all of her assignments in a timely fashion and is an excellent contributor to class discussions.
Always positive, Megan is an asset to every class and activity. She is friendly and welcoming and works hard to encourage others to participate. She is determined to succeed and does so with a smile on her face. She greets peers and staff enthusiastically every day.
Not only is a leader in the classroom, Megan is a good role model in athletics as well. As captain of the BFUHS field hockey team, she was a positive leader that kept the team focused towards their goal to win the Division 1 State Title.
Megan goes out of her way to help her school and community. She has volunteered on several occasions to assist and help lead community-based fundraisers and food and toy drives through the BFUHS Student Council. She is not even an official member of the Council, but is always willing to lend a helping hand, and in response does not expect any notoriety for her efforts.
A quiet leader and good role model, BFUHS and the Elks are proud to have Megan represent us this month with this award.
